18 Dec – There's no denying that the world is definitely feeling the Force ever since the latest instalment, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", directed by J.J. Abrams, opened in cinemas on 17 December.

Malaysia is no exception to this phenomenon – one diehard fan of the sci-fi franchise named Tintoy Chuo, 43, has come up with the idea of turning the iconic movies' characters into shadow puppets.

Though this is by no means a recent idea of his as the founder and creative director of Action Tintoy Design Lab has debuted his project since last years.

Tintoy's latest project is a "Star Wars" shadow play exhibition at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, which has been receiving a rousing reception.

"The reception from the public has been encouraging especially from city-dwellers who have never seen shadow play. Hence the exhibition has achieved its goal which meant to give exposure and new information for them," said Tintoy to BH Online.

Some of the characters on display include Darth Vader, Storm Trooper, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, C-3PO, R2-D2, Rebel Soldier and the Star Destroyer Spaceship.

He added that the exhibition, which combines both traditional and technological elements, has succeeded in gaining the younger generation's interest in traditional arts.

Tintoy has also voiced his intentions to hold a full-length "Star Wars" shadow play in the future.

The "Peperangan Bintang" ("Star Wars") exhibition has been held since 12 December and is set to end today.
