Fan Bingbing's new Malaysian movie is "Mother Bhumi"

10 Oct - After it was previously rumoured that Fan Bingbing is filming a Malaysian movie, it was recently revealed that the actress is indeed currently shooting a film called "Mother Bhumi".

As reported on Oriental Daily, the movie, which is currently filming in the state of Kedah, is helmed by critically acclaimed "Snow in Midsummer" director Chong Keat Aun and is a co-production between Malaysia and Italy.

It is expected to be completed in November, and is scheduled to be shown at major film festivals in the second half of 2025.

The story "Mother Bhumi" is set in a village on the Malaysia-Thailand border, with Fan playing a peasant woman who helps villagers with their problems through exorcism. However, an encounter with a mysterious ghost reveals a secret behind her husband's death.

Aside from Fan, the movie also co-stars Taiwanese actor Bai Run-yin and Hong Kong actress Natalie Hsu.
