After the Eras Tour ended, everyone expected Taylor Swift to take a well-deserved break. But, of course, the pop star’s moves remain unpredictable. From Kansas City Chiefs game appearances to visits at the local children’s hospital to nights out with her friends, the Grammy-winning singer shows no signs of slowing down. And yet, she’s embarking on a million-dollar home renovation on top of her chaotic schedule.
That’s right. According to recent permits filed, Swift is looking to add an addition to her Watch Hill, Rhode Island, home. Having recently been named the first singer to become a billionaire by music alone (i.e., no side ventures), Swift is looking to add a new wing to the already expansive, 11,000-square-foot property. The Providence Journal obtained a copy of the permit this week, and it details the $1.7-million-dollar addition.
Always the generous host, Swift is using this renovation to add one more bedroom and an unspecified number of bathrooms. The home already boasts eight bedrooms and ten bathrooms. As if that weren't enough, her kitchen will also be getting a makeover. And while both she and her design team are increasingly private, we can expect Swift to stay true to her eclectic and vintage-loving interior design style.
This house has long been a source of comfort and inspiration for Swift, who, in 2020, released the song “The Last Great American Dynasty,” which details the history of the 1930 property. First owned by Rebekah West Harkness and Standard Oil heir William Hale “Bill” Harkness at the height of the Gilded Age, the home has changed hands many times and then sat vacant for 50 years until Swift purchased the property in cash in 2013 for $17.75 million. Whether she’s expanding for friends and family, or just looking for more space for her famous Fourth of July parties, we can’t wait to see what she does with the place.
