INTERVIEW: Evangeline Lilly clarifies viral news on the Wasp solo film
"I will say that I'm not pitching it (the Wasp standalone film). I just keep getting asked over and over again."
Actress Evangeline Lilly reprises her role as The Wasp in this year's Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, but she would like to clarify some news about a solo Wasp film.
Evangeline Lilly is known for her roles in the Lost TV series and The Lord of The Rings film series
Lilly made her MCU debut in Ant-Man back in 2015
The actress also acted in 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp and 2019's Avengers: Endgame
She's also likely to star in the future Avengers ensemble films
Speaking to Yahoo Southeast Asia today on a one-on-one video interview, Lilly said: "I will say that I'm not pitching it (the Wasp standalone film). I just keep getting asked over and over again. Everybody's telling me, 'shouldn't you have it? And I'm like, okay, yeah, great!'"
It turns out that during one of the press conferences to promote the film, there was a section where the cast took fans' questions. Someone asked about a solo Wasp film, to which Lilly replied, "I'm all for it! Kevin Feige (President of Marvel Studios), what do you think? But now, everyone's asking me about it. Everyone! (laughs)."
Still, we think that's a good pitch, and she tells me that the decision really lies in the creator's hands. As for future Avengers films, Lilly hasn't gotten any confirmation news about her role – yet.
"To be honest, I really don't know. I'm sure for Phase Five (of MCU) we are heading towards an Avengers film and I would think having The Wasp gone off toe-to-toe with Kang in Quantumania – we might be part of that. But it's as much of a mystery to me, as it is to you."

For now, we're content with watching Lilly be an equal partner to her husband and superhero Ant-Man, played by Paul Rudd. Coming out of an earlier film screening, we saw the lifelong love story between the two characters that's just so pure, respectful and kind.
Lilly was thankful I touched on that meaningful arc: "I think it's a fundamental part of Quantumania, but it's a small part. And so I'm glad you picked up on that. I think Hope is in such a good place in her life at the beginning of this film. She's really opened her heart and learned how to be vulnerable over the course of the previous two films. She is 100% there for Scott. She wants to have his back and take care of him. She also wants to look out for his daughter, Cassie, her stepdaughter. And I agree with you – I think it's a really pure relationship and it's so beautiful to see on screen."
In Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, the film follows Scott Lang (played by Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), who continue to explore life as a couple and Super Heroes. Life is good: Scott has penned a book, Hope is championing humanitarian causes and their family—Hope’s parents, Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott’s daughter, Cassie (Kathryn Newton)—is finally part of their day-to-day lives.
That is until Cassie's little quantum experiment goes awry and sucks the whole family into the Quantum realm, where they encounter the menacing villain Kang The Conqueror (Jonathan Majors).
The film introduces new characters like Bill Murray as Krylar, William Jackson Harper as Quaz and Katy M. O’Brian as Jentorra.
Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania opens in cinemas 16 February.
