Ernie Zakri honoured to record and perform Visit Malaysia theme song
10 Jan - Ernie Zakri recently expressed elation over being chosen to sing the Visit Malaysia campaign song for the year 2026 (VM226).
Calling it her biggest achievement to date, Ernie, who will be performing the song "Surreal Experiences" as a part of a collaborative effort with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture (MOTAC), said that the offer was made two months ago.
"Of course I wasn't going to let it go because I saw it as a great opportunity and a good start to my career this year. It also reminds me of the difficult times I had to go through before my music was recognised and accepted by many. I felt very lucky when I was among the singers who were considered and then chosen," she said.
Ernie also said that she has never thought that she would one day be singing a Visit Malaysia campaign song and consider it as something entrusted to her to be carried out as best as possible.
"This song is quite beautiful and the melody is also inspired by an old song, namely Kenek-kenek Udang because everyone knows the song. I will sing it in two languages, Malay and English," she said.
