Eric Kwok to judge new idol competition

10 May – Hong Kong singer-actor Eric Kwok recently revealed that he will be one of the judges of the upcoming ViuTV reality competition, "Goodnight Show: Making a Star" (tentative title).

As reported on Mingpao, the singer who spoke about the upcoming programme recently, revealed that the show aims to create a new generation of all-round idols for the Hong Kong entertainment industry.

Said the singer, they will select 100 finalists, all male, and these finalists will be training to perform throughout the 60-episode series, where they will be eliminated one by one until the final winner is found.

The winner will win HKD 1 million in prize money.

Eric revealed that his goal is to find an idol with a good quality and someone who can surprise others with something more than just one talent.

"We observe these idols in many aspects. It is not enough to join showbiz with only your talent," he said.

When asked if the show is similar to Korea's "Produce 101", Eric smiled and said that many programmes have similar premise.

"Our Hong Kong show will have a Hong Kong flavour," he said.

Aside from Eric, media personality Cheuk Wan Chi will also be one of the judges on the show.
