Southwest Airlines is rewarding travelers for flying more in 2025 with a new double-point promotion — but for a limited-time only.

“Take advantage of our featured offers,” the airline shared about the promotion on its website. “When you book with Southwest, you’ll save and earn Rapid Rewards points when you travel.”

Rapid Rewards members who register for this promotion by tonight, Jan. 13, at 11:59 p.m. PT, and book one-way or round-trip flights for travel through Wed, May 21, can earn double points afterward. Registering for this promotion is free and takes just a few seconds on the dedicated promotion page.

Southwest offers four fare classes: Wanna Get Away, Wanna Get Away Plus, Anytime, and Business Select, with the latter offering the most flexibility for changes and cancellations. Normally, travelers will earn bonus points per dollar on qualifying flights depending on the fare class and level of elite status:

  • Wanna Get Away: 6x points (base member), 7.5x points (A-List member), and 12x points (A-List Preferred member)

  • Wanna Get Away Plus: 8x points (base member), 10x points (A-List member), and 16x points (A-List Preferred member)

  • Anytime: 10x points (base member), 12.5x points (A-List member), and 20x points (A-List Preferred member)

  • Business Select: 12x points (base member), 15x points (A-List member), and 24x points (A-List Preferred member)

With this new promotion, all earnings are effectively doubled on qualifying flights during the promotional period. For instance, a Rapid Rewards member without elite status could earn between 12x points and 24x points per dollar on their ticket.

It can take up to 72 hours after the flight is complete for these bonus points to be posted to accounts, according to the fine print of the promotion.

These Rapid Rewards points can be redeemed for future flights on Southwest, though they are separate from elite-qualifying points that help members earn A-List, A-List Preferred, or even the Companion Pass
