Early bird catches the worm: Early Christmas pickings for foodies

It's truly beginning to look like Christmas, with Orchard Road alight with its annual decorations and Christmas songs playing in retail stores. Better yet, restaurants have started launching their Christmas festive dine-in reservations, while takeaway sets can already be reserved in advance.

We've shortlisted a couple of restaurants and destinations – most of which also offer delivery sets – for you to plan your Christmas parties or dinners in advance. Are you on the naughty or nice guest list this year?

PAUL

Have a very délicieux Christmas with PAUL, a multi-branch French bakery and patisserie known for their delectable pastries and yes, white curry roast turkey. The turkey meat is marinated with white curry spice rub, stuffed with sambal quail eggs, served with fragrant butterfly pea flower coconut rice, crispy anchovies, roasted peanuts, 'achar' asian pickled salad, and topped with a fine white curry gravy.

Novotel Winestone

From 15 November to 30 December, Winestone will present a 4-course festive menu with specials such as the pepper tuna salad, seafood bisque, MS2 ribeye, fresh sea perch, molten chocolate log cake and more.

In collaboration with four local makers, Winestone presents a series of five festive cocktails from Dannon Har, co-founder and chief mixologist at Section D. Taste freshly made goat cheese from locally harvested goat's milk by Leon Hay, whose family own Singapore's only goat farm since 1988.

The hotel is also working with June Chen, co-founder and lead designer at Floral Mikelle, to present sustainable wine gifting sets with preserved florals. And lastly, Jas Rehan, founder of A Poet’s Terroir, presents an intriguing exploration of wine and art in an experience that consists of wine tasting, art and a 3-course lunch.

Artemis Grill, a sky-high dining concept offering Mediterranean-inspired dishes, introduces a specially curated Christmas menu for the month of December featuring seasonal dishes on the lunch and dinner menus.

Start off with two festive appetisers: Wild Mushroom Consommé with Confit Celeriac, Pickled Shitake Mushroom and Perigod Truffle (S$26), or Lobster Thermidor Gratin, with Macaroni, Wilted Spinach and Parmesan (S$44).

The main dishes include succulent Rhug Estate Turkey Breast served with Traditional Pork Stuffing, Carrot Puree, Glazed Chestnuts and Armagnac Jus (S$36), or Roasted Challans Duck-Confit Leg with Pickled Red Cabbage, Parsnip Puree and Moroccan Spiced Duck Jus (S$56). Enjoy these with ever-popular seasonal side dishes: Duck Fat Roasted Potatoes with Gravy and Aged Comte Cheese (S$16) and Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Smoked Bacon and Wholegrain Mustard Vinaigrette (S$14).

To finish, enjoy the decadent “Mont Blanc” Milk Chocolate Ganache with Candied Chestnut and Vanilla Chantilly Cream (S$16) or the Clafoutis with Mulled Wine Black Plums served with Vanilla Bean Gelato (S$24) perfect to share for two.

From 1 December onward, Bistecca is presenting a festive dining experience with appetisers that include Bruschetta topped with Chitose Cherry Tomatoes, Stracciatella and Basil Pesto (S$18) or Vitello Tonnato – Veal Carpaccio, Tuna Mayo, Crispy Ox Tongue and Caper Berry (S$28). For the second course, enjoy the seasonal pasta Agnolotti made with Japanese Pumpkin, Almond, Sage and topped with Amaretti Crumble (S$24).

The main course includes all of their classic steak cuts, as well as a succulent Slow Braised Beef Cheek served with Parsnip Puree, Glazed Pearl Onions and Bone Marrow Croutons (S$56). If you want a sharing steak for two, there is a signature Tenderloin “Chateaubriand” 560g, served with Wilted Spinach and Green Pepper Corn Sauce (S$158).

Accompanying the meat are seasonal sharing side dishes: Lobster Mac ‘n’ Cheese made with Lobster Bechamel, Gruyère Cheese, Brandy, Bread Crumbs (S$24) or the ever-popular Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Smoked Bacon and Wholegrain Mustard (S$16).

Last but certainly not least, enjoy the new decadent Vanilla Panna Cotta served with Moro Blood Orange, Passion Fruit, Orange & Cacao Tuile (S$15) or Torta Della Nonna – Lemon Curd, Caramelized Pine Nuts and Raspberry Sorbet (S$15).

Spread the Yuletide cheer even at home with Fairmont's Christmas at Home feasts.

For the hostess with the mostest, go for the Traditional Christmas Collection (S$555 for 11 dishes, good for 4 to 5 persons) or the Decadent Christmas Collection (S$855 for 13 dishes, good for 4 to 5 persons) and relish in a symphony of luxurious festive treats meticulously curated by the hotels’ award-winning culinary team.

Mad About Sucre has launched its Christmas menu, filled with delicious confections, as well as savoury meals that will be available from the 1st of December 2021 onwards. This year's mouth-watering bakes include Cognac Fruit Cake, Blanc Christmas Log and Rouge Christmas Log. Customers can also order delectable mains consisting of Smoked Gourmet Gammon Ham, Red Wine Roast Beef Rib-eye, Salad of French Foie Gras and more.
