Dr. Martens Reveals Limited-Edition Version of the Iconic 1460 Boot in Celebration of the Silhouette’s 65th Birthday
Dr. Martens released a new limited-edition boot on Tuesday celebrating the 65th birthday of its most famous silhouette, the 1460 boot. The brand will create only 1,460 pairs of the 1460 Made in England Pascal Love Letter Boot, which is priced at $460. The name of the 1460 boot pays tribute to the date on which the shoe was first made: April 1, 1960.
The 1460 boot blended British shoemaking heritage with an innovative bouncing sole from Germany, and the shoe has remained relevant since, traversing the world from the feet of workers to those of world-famous musicians. The new limited-edition iteration of the style pays homage to its enduring cultural significance, crafted at the brand’s original factory in Wollaston, Northamptonshire, England.

Showcasing a burgundy shade, the collector’s item is crafted with full-grain classic calf leather from the Leeds-based tannery C.F. Stead, which has worked with Dr. Martens since the 1980s. Per the brand, “The leather’s rich color and blend of natural waxes and oils give it a subtle pull-up that will develop uniquely to each wearer over time—a story written in leather.”
Contrast stitch detailing stands out against the burgundy, with stitching on the quarters paying homage to archival versions of the historic boot. The date 1.4.60 is debossed on the tongue with additional details, including a debossed leather heel loop, antique gold eyelets and tonal laces. The signature features of Dr. Martens — a yellow welt stitch, grooved sidewall, Puritan stitching and unique undersole pattern — are also included in the limited-edition shoe.
Adam Owen, Dr. Martens’ global design director, said of the 1460 boot’s longevity: “Dr. Martens 1460 boots have always been about more than just footwear – they’re a symbol of
individuality, resilience, and rebellion. Over the years, they’ve been worn by everyone from the
punks of the ’70s to the grunge scene of the ‘90s, and now by today’s creatives and fashion
designers making waves. Dr. Martens has always been a blank canvas for self-expression. We
don’t tell people how to wear them; we simply create boots that are built to last and let the wearer
tell their own story.”
Dr. Martens recently teased a collaboration with Bratz featuring three footwear styles leaning into the sassy glam Y2K aesthetic of the doll franchise. Among other creations unveiled in 2025, the English brand also released its Year of the Snake collection in January in honor of the Lunar New Year.
