Donnie Yen wants to reduce acting projects in New Year

25 Jan – Now that he is closer to the big 6-0, Donnie Yen recently revealed that his wish for the Year of the Rabbit is to reduce his movie projects.

The actor, who showed off his calligraphy skill at an event recently, stated that he is adamant about his decision to decrease his projects although he has actually been offered several Hollywood roles.

"I don't want to be in so many movies even if I do want to be in projects that can ignite my spirit. At most would be two or three," he said.

Donnie stated that the older he is, the more he feels like he wants to do more behind the scenes work, saying that he enjoys hiding in his room to edit his videos more nowadays.

"The sun would set one day. When I turned 50, I told my wife I would not work at 55. Now I will turn 60 soon and yet I still get lots of scripts. In other words, the soonest [that I will retire from acting] would be in several more years," he said.

At the same time, the actor also admitted that he is trying to find successors when it comes to action/martial arts actors.

Asked if he would train his own son, Donnie said that James is more attuned to music.
