Dong Li frustrated with allegations of sexualisation

25 Nov - Olympic fencer Dong Li has expressed his frustration over the recent controversy surrounding his relationship with four-year-old interim daughter, Arale.

As reported on ECNS News, the athlete, whose fake father-daughter relationship with Arale in Season 4 of "Where Are We Going, Dad" sparked a heated debate about child endangerment, stated that it was ridiculous to think beyond what is clear about his fatherly love for Arale.

Dong stated that a female director was responsible for taking care of Arale during the show, and that he has a sense of propriety. He added that some people are just distorting and taking their father-and-child love out of context.

The 23-year-old also slammed the psycho-sexual articles, videos, and fan fiction made by netizens, which have only made things harder and causing harm to the four-year-old.

Nonetheless, many believed that Dong might have misunderstood the tone of the discussion, and that while his intentions were good, the effect of such depiction may give the wrong message to children – that they could do the same things with strangers, and incite dangerous people to lure them in.
