Director Wenn Deramas passes away at 49

The comedy director could not be revived following a sudden heart attack Monday morning

1 Mar - Filipino director Wenn V. Deramas has recently passed away.

According to Rappler, the news was announced by actor-comedian Vice Ganda on 29 February, who stated that the director died following a heart attack Monday morning.

Good friend June Rufino also confirmed the news, saying that Deramas could not be revived upon arriving at the hospital.

It was reported that the director almost had a heart attack two years ago, and subsequently undergone angioplasty.

Star Cinema, Deramas' constant collaborating network, released a statement saying, "We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our Kapamilya [director] Wenn Deramas. Today we lost not only one of the greatest minds but a loving son, brother, friend. This is a sad day for the industry. He will forever be remembered."

Deramas was known for the many hit movies he made in the comedy and horror genre. Among his notable works are the box office Metro Manila Vice Ganda hits, "The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin" and "Beauty and the Bestie".

He was 49.
