Dicky Cheung would love to try theatre

22 Apr – Hong Kong actor Dicky Cheung recently expressed interest to try his hands on stage acting.

As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who appeared at the 28th Hong Kong Stage Drama Awards recently, stated that he is a man with great confidence, and would be happy to try something new in his career.

"The problem is whether the audience would be accepting or not," he said with a jest.

Dicky believes that while acting on stage would be a challenge, the hardest job is actually being a stand-up comedian.

"When it comes to concerts, stage plays, or musicals, you have directors, scripts, and cast members. It's a team effort. But doing stand-up, 90 percent of the work comes from the comedian himself," he said.

He admitted that someone offered him to combine a solo concert and comedy, but that he has yet to make a decision.

"I could make people laugh and I can sing. But I never considered it as something I can do simultaneously. The disadvantage is that I can only do those two things separately," he said.

On the other hand, Dicky couldn't help but laugh when asked why he was invited to the said awards.

"I don't even know why a person who has never even won Best Actor would present an award at this event," he said.
