Devin Booker Debuted a New Version of His ‘Cortez’ Nikes — but Don’t Expect Them to Be Released
With the release of Devin Booker’s Forrest Gump-inspired signature Nike sneakers just a little over a week away, the Phoenix Suns star debuted a new colorway of Cortez-themed exclusives Saturday night.
As the Suns hosted the Utah Jazz at the Footprint Center, Booker laced up a previously unseen Nike Book 1 with Cortez-informed details. But unlike the red-and-blue accented “Forrest Gump” that will be arriving at stores soon, Booker’s Saturday sneakers adopted the colors of his Suns team.

The on-court pair featured the same Cortez-inspired white leather-and-canvas upper and serrated eyestay, but swapped red for purple and replaced blue with orange. Booker’s Saturday style also lacked the custom “Book” logo on the left tongue, instead using Nike logos on both shoes.
It’s unlikely that Booker’s Suns-colored Book 1 will be released at retail, but it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility. The NBA star’s upcoming “Forrest Gump” pair was once believed to be an exclusive before being confirmed for a release.
Other upcoming Nike Book 1 releases of note include the “1995 All-Star” colorway worn by Booker during NBA All-Star Weekend 2024 and a “Flagstaff” colorway inspired by the Arizona city, which is a follow-up to January’s “Sedona” iteration. A collaboration with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s Fragment Design brand was also recently shared online, but it’s unconfirmed if that pair will be available at retail.
The Cortez-inspired Nike Book 1 “Forrest Gump” will be officially released from SNKRS and select Nike Basketball retailers on Jan 24. The SNKRS launch takes place at 10 a.m. ET and the shoes will retail for $140.
