Dayo Wong won't flaunt film's success
2 Nov – Although his movie, "Table for Six" is already breaking box office records as the highest grossing comedy movie of all time in Hong Kong, Dayo Wong said that he will make sure to not be too excited about it.
As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who was asked about the movie making HKD 72 million at the Hong Kong box office and becoming the second highest grossing movie just below "Warriors of Future", stated that it was surreal to achieve such a feat, seeing that he has been a box office poison for the last 18 years.
"Each time I promote a movie, I hoped that people would not target this part of me. But now I suddenly have a HKD 72 million box office movie," he said.
Dayo then quoted comedian Ricky Gervais, who once said at the Golden Globes Awards that an actor should just thank everybody and leave the stage.
"So, I won't flaunt too much. I should just be secretly happy and thank everybody. HKD 70 million represents one million viewers. This is such an overwhelming feeling. That's already very solid to me," he added.
It is noted that the highest grossing Hong Kong comedy movie record was previously helmed by Stephen Chow's "Shaolin Soccer", which made HKD 60.7 million.
