Darren Wang denies avoiding South Korean media
1 Apr – Taiwanese actor Darren Wang has recently dismissed the notion that he was avoiding the South Korean media by cancelling the press conference of his new movie in the country.
As reported on World Journal, the actor was originally scheduled to embark on a press tour in the country to promote his new movie, "Fall in Love at First Kiss" and was scheduled to appear at one of the press events on 22 March.
However, the South Korean media was later notified that the event was cancelled due to "internal issues".
Many then speculated that it has something to do with Darren's friendship with Seungri, the former member of BIG BANG who is currently facing several criminal charges.
In response to the speculations, Darren's camp recently stated that the cancellation has nothing to do with the case.
His rep stated that they had to cancel because of Darren's packed schedule, and that the venue was not suitable for the event. They also vehemently denied rumours that Darren was trying to avoid questions about his friendship with Seungri.
Darren also shared a statement from his company, saying that the sales for his fan meeting - which happened on the same day - exceeded expectations, which is why they decided to forgo the press conference and instead lengthen the duration for the fan meeting.
The company also denied the idea that Darren is involved in some way in Seungri's scandal.
