Counting Down The 25 Greatest Colts of All Time: 15-11
With the lack of football news at this point in the offseason, I thought I would count down the greatest Colts players of all time. This will include Baltimore and Indianapolis Colts. The years represent the player’s tenure as a Colt.

15. Bob Sanders, S, 2004-2009
In his short career plagued by injury, Sanders established himself as one of the best safeties in the NFL, and one of the hardest hitters. Sanders was “Superman”; he gave 110% every play, and played at full speed all of the time. The future Hall of Famer had two all pro seasons, and won the defensive player of the year in 2008. Sanders could have been one of the greatest safeties ever if his knees could have held up.
14. Dallas Clark, TE, 2003-2011
Along with Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison, Clark helped form an unstoppable receiving trio for the mid 2000s Colts. In 2009, Clark made the all pro team, recording 1,106 yards and 10 touchdowns. Clark was also an excellent blocker, making him even more valuable. He is the all time Colts leader in touchdowns and catches among tight ends.
13. Raymond Berry, WR, 1955-1967
Berry is one of the greatest receivers of all time. The Hall of Famer is a two time NFL champion for the Baltimore Colts. In 1960, Berry recorded 1,298 yards and 10 touchdowns along with an all pro nod. Berry was one of the hardest working and most meticulous players in NFL history. This allowed him to be one of the best route-runners of all time, and made him virtually unguardable. Berry is one of the least mentioned of the legendary receivers in NFL history.
12. Andrew Luck, QB, 2012-present
Andrew Luck has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL since he stepped onto the scene in 2012, In 2014 he had an MVP caliber season, putting up 4,761 and 40 touchdowns, leading the Colts to the AFC championship. Remember, this was a Colts team with a below average defense and offensive line. Luck’s injuries have been detrimental to the Colts over the past two season, but a healthy Luck in 2017 increases the probability of a playoff berth drastically.
11. John Mackey, TE, 1963-1971
John Mackey was instrumental in revolutionizing the tight end position into an offensive weapon. He paved the way for legendary tight ends such as Shannon Sharpe, Rob Gronkowski, and Tony Gonzalez. Mackey recorded 5,126 yards and 38 touchdowns in his career with the Colts, along with three all pro selections. Mackey is also the face of Brain disease relating to football, as he passed away in 2011 due to Dementia. Mackey is not only one of the greatest tight ends to ever play, but one of the most influential players in NFL history.
