Coleen Garcia opts for home birth this September
27 Aug – Coleen Garcia is set to give birth to her first child next month, and she is planning to do it via home birth.
As reported on PEP, the actress who spoke about her delivery plan, shared that she had wanted to have an unmedicated water birth since the very beginning that she found herself pregnant with her first son.
"But doctors had always discouraged me from going for a home birth, and it made me anxious. I was then hoping for an unmedicated water birth in a hospital, just to be safe, since some hospitals did offer that. However, because of the pandemic, they had to put that method on hold," she said.
Garcia stated that she eventually opted for home birth, though it was more for her and husband Billy Crawford's sake than keeping safe from COVID-19.
"Although a lot of hospitals are at full capacity, and there's also the fact that Billy wouldn't have been able to join me during the delivery. My main driving force for wanting to have a home birth, more than anything, is just to have the peaceful birth I've wanted from the start," she said, adding that being in a hospital would not be the best idea right now.
Garcia also assured that she has already planned everything with her team, including ensuring that all the people involved (the doula, the midwife, etc) would be there and that they have an OB/GYN on call in case of emergency.
"We do have a doctor and hospital in mind in case things go awry," she added.
