Cinemas in Singapore to close until end of April 2020

25 Mar – As an extra precaution in curbing the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Singapore Government yesterday announced that all entertainment venues island-wide will be temporarily closed until 30 April 2020.
These include all the cinemas currently operating in Singapore, with most to close their doors from this Friday onwards.
Cathay Cineplexes, WE Cinemas, Golden Village, Shaw Theatres, and The Projector are among the cinemas that will remain open until tomorrow and will commence temporarily closure from this 27 March.
At the time of writing, Carnival Cinemas and Filmgarde Cineplexes have yet to confirm their closure dates, though it is likely both will comply with the government's order and be momentarily shuttered from this week, as well.
Prior to the closure of the cinemas, each of the exhibitors have taken extra precautions in ensuring their patrons and staff's safety, such as practicing social distancing and providing hand sanitizers as well as installing air sanitizer machines at their cinemas.
To date, there are 558 confirmed cases in Singapore, comprising 400 active cases, 156 recovered patients and 2 deaths reported.
