China to produce another "Condor Heroes" TV remake

17 Jan – It seems that production companies are going to milk Jin Yong's popular series till it's dry, as it was reported that there will be another remake of the wuxia series, "The Return of the Condor Heroes".

As reported on Epoch Times, a studio in mainland China recently revealed that they are planning to produce another television remake of the popular story, with its primary target being the younger audiences who are not familiar with the franchise.

It is also revealed that the studio is currently on the lookout for new faces to play the roles in the movie, especially the two lead characters, Yang Guo and Little Dragon Girl.

According to sources, the upcoming adaptation will be a more faithful adaptation of the book, but with a few changes. At the same time, it is reported that the story will be presented from the perspective of Guo Jing and Huang Rong's teenage daughter, Guo Xiang, who idolises Yang Guo.

This will be the ninth time "The Return of the Condor Heroes" will be adapted for the small screen. Some of the more popular versions include the 1983 TVB version starring Andy Lau and Idy Chan, the 1995 adaptation starring Louis Koo and Carman Lee, and the last remake starring Chen Xiao and Michelle Chan back in 2014.

On the other hand, back in September last year, Tsui Hark revealed that he has plans to adapt the "Condor" trilogy for the silver screen.
