Celine Tam's father proud of her "AGT" performance
21 Jun - Little Celine Tam has recently won the judges and the international audiences of "America's Got Talent" when she belted Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On".
As reported on Epoch Times, the nine-year-old, whose performance at the show recorded more than 20 million views online; told the judges, including former Spice Girls' Mel B and music producer Simon Cowell, that she first realised her talent while singing along to Celine Dion's songs in the car with her dad.
However, Asians who watched the performance online would recognised Celine from earlier talent shows. She previously wowed the crowd on mainland singing competition "Let's Sing Kids", as well as other numerous Hong Kong singing competition.
Celine's father, vocal teacher Steve Tam, accepted a phone interview with the media recently and shared that he is happy that his daughter had a chance to showcase her talent on a global scale through the show.
"As parents, we only want to give her the best. But the greatest gift to life is to have a family that can support and encourage each other with whatever they want to do," he said.
And while he is happy that Celine's talent was celebrated on the show, he also taught his daughter to be prepared to face failure, and admitted that Celine has become stronger because of it.
He also shared that Celine asked him what he wanted for Father's Day, to which he said, "Having you is enough for me."
