Celebs express sadness over Wilson Chin's death

28 Oct – Celebrity friends of Wilson Chin recently expressed their sadness over the filmmaker's passing, following news that he lost his battle with pancreatic cancer.

As reported on Mingpao, Eric Tsang, who worked with Wilson on "Super Trio Series" back when the director was still a TVB variety producer, stated that he was heartbroken over the news as he knew Wilson had wanted to try a different treatment in Japan prior to his passing.

"He found a doctor in Japan, and wanted to go. But due to the pandemic, he was unable to travel to a different country, which really dealt a blow to his confidence. He was mentally prepared," he said.

Asked if the director had any regrets, Eric said that Wilson was reluctant on giving up his daughter, who was still too young.

Chin Ka Lok, who went to visit Wilson prior to his passing, stated that the director was never tired of fighting for his health, and persevered to the end.

"A lot of friends visited him at the hospital, and those who couldn't, would use video calls to speak to him," he said.

On the other hand, Louis Koo, who spoke on behalf of the Hong Kong Performing Artistes Guild (HKPAG), expressed his sadness over the news of Wilson's death and thanked him for his contribution to the Hong Kong film industry.

"We will liaise with the family and try our best to provide assistance," he said.

Wilson Chin passed away on 27 October, two years since he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was 58.
