Celebrities with Hindi/Sanskrit tattoos
The rationale behind celebrity fetish for exotic language tattoos could be their singularity. That explains the demand for Devanagari script when it comes to inking. Prayer verses, religious symbols, etc., are some of the most popular choices of the celebrities when it comes to body art.
David Beckham proclaimed his love for Victoria back in 2000, by getting his lady love’s name tattooed in Hindi on his left forearm. But his tattoo artist botched it slightly, and the name reads “Vhictoria” instead of “Victoria”
Beckham’s isn’t a singular case. Often, most of these celebrities don’t bother to delve into the details and end up with the misspelt verses etched on to their bodies forever, like Rihanna’s bungled Bhagavad Gita verse that runs along her hip.
The singer got that tattoo done in 2007, and she picked a verse from Bhagavad Gita 10.4-5, which translates to “forgiveness, truthfulness, control of the senses, happiness.” But her tattoo reads "long suffering, truthfulness, self-restraint, inward calm, fear and fearlessness” instead.
