Carrie Fisher's mother passes away at 84

29 Dec – Oscar-nominated actress, Debbie Reynolds, had today passed away peacefully at the Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
The actress was 84 and her death came only a day after her daughter, Carrie Fisher's tragic death which was due to a heart attack.
This was initially reported by Variety who wrote, "Debbie Reynolds, the Oscar-nominated singer-actress who was the mother of late actress Carrie Fisher, has died at Cedars-Sinai hospital. She was 84."
"She was taken to the hospital from Todd Fisher's Beverly Hills house on Wednesday after a suspected stroke, the day after her daughter Carrie Fisher died."
The all-rounder who is known for her singing, acting and dancing delivered such huge hits back in the 50's and 60's with top notch movies such as "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" for which she received an Oscar nomination and the cult musical classic, "Singing in the Rain".
According to Variety, Debbie's son Todd Fisher believes that the mother and daughter are in a better place now together.
He said, "She wanted to be with Carrie".
Debbie Reynolds was born Mary Frances Reynolds in El Paso, Texas, the second child of Maxine N. (Harmon) and Raymond Francis Reynolds, a carpenter for the Southern Pacific Railroad.
Her film career began at MGM after she won a beauty contest at age 16 impersonating Betty Hutton.
Most of her early film work was in MGM musicals as young wholesome women who use her dancing skills with stage work.
Reynolds is survived by her son Todd, a TV commercial director from her marriage to Eddie Fisher; and granddaughter, actress Billie Lourd.
Debbie Reynold's fans and the rest of the showbiz will mourn the loss together with her family.
