Carol Cheng wants to use role as entertainer to bring happiness

21 Jun – Hong Kong TV personality Carol "Do Do" Cheng recently expressed her concern over the social atmosphere in Hong Kong, following the massive anti-extradition bill protests triggered by the Fugitive Offenders and Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Legislation Bill 2019 proposed by the Government of Hong Kong.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress, who had just returned to Hong Kong after a fortnight of various overseas activities, recently took to her Commercial Radio show "When I Was Young I Listen to the Radio" to share her thoughts about the issue.

She said, "I have gone to many places in the past two weeks. Took a lot of cars and planes. But the last journey is also the most hopeful for me. Because this journey is my return home to Hong Kong."

Carol also sounded sad as she expressed her love for Hong Kong.

"Maybe it's because I am old, so emotional. I want to cherish this [family], especially students and young people. I hope that Hong Kong can return to a state of peace soon," she added.

The radio personality stated that while she was unable to participate in the discussion before due to her absence, she would like to use her role as an entertainer to bring happiness to people.

"If I can get people to loosen up for half an hour [of my show], I would be so happy that I have done my part," she added.
