AKB48′s concerts ‘live’ on GV screens
For fans who cannot travel to Japan to catch one of its biggest pop sensations AKB48 live in their series of concerts later this month, fret not.
Golden Village (GV) will telecast the five AKB48 concerts live from the Tokyo Dome City Hall on GV VivoCity screens.
Said a GV spokesman, "Golden Village has been promoting and screening concerts beginning with Ayumi Hamasaki's Arena Tour-Next Level 3D in August 2010...It is our intention to bring variety and interest to our content programming, offering something different for every market segment where we can."
Since its very first broadcast, GV has screened numerous concerts including that of the likes of Super Junior, Pearl Jam, Kylie Minogue and MayDay.
The cineplex does not stop just at concerts.
"In addition to pop concerts, Golden Village also promoted and screened various musical and classical concerts including The Phantom of the Opera 20th Anniversary Musical in November 2011.
"Last weekend, we screened a concert by famed pianist Lang Lang," said GV.
Its spokesman described response to such screenings here as "fantastic"
"We are clearly reaching out to the core fan base that may otherwise not have the opportunity to experience the concert in such an exciting social setting," said the spokesman.
She added that there are plans to screen sport matches and more concerts, with more details to be provided once they have been confirmed.
AKB48's first four concerts in Japan will take place from January 19 t0 22 as part of an annual New Year event while the fifth is on January 23.
