London is a renowned melting pot for myriad different cultures and a champion of self-expression, the combination of which lends itself particularly well to creativity – and each season, the fashion world looks directly to the capital for clues about which fresh new faces and talents are destined to be the next big thing.

It follows, then, that in 2018 the British Fashion Council (BFC) introduced NEW WAVE: Creatives, an award aimed at driving creativity forward and providing a platform to accelerate nascent careers. And each year since, the BFC has released its list of recipients, celebrating the 50 most innovative and inspiring young creative talents from all over the world. It's a veritable who's who of the next generation of fashion, from photographers, models and casting agents through to make-up artists and stylists to watch – with alumni including Adut Akech, Celia Burton and Campbell Addy.

And today, the hotly anticipated list of 2022 NEW WAVE: Creatives has been unveiled, featuring 50 rising stars as selected by a panel made up of industry heavyweights including model Soo Joo Park, designer Bianca Saunders and film producer Brett Kincaid.

'The amount of talent around the globe is astonishing,' says Kincaid. 'Living in era where it's feasible to work with creatives as readily as we now can do incredible things for shared thought and collaboration across cultures and continents.'

Fellow panellist Omoyemi Akerele, founder of Lagos Fashion Week, also noted: 'The NEW WAVE category must be applauded for acknowledging and celebrating the greatest resource any fashion ecosystem can boast of - its diverse community of new talents... Community is always the starting point of our creative process, and our creative class is the bedrock of that community.'

All award-winners will be formally celebrated at the upcoming Fashion Awards 2022, held at the Royal Albert Hall. Find out who made the cut below, and start taking notes...
