Azhar Sulaiman admits shocked over Badrul Muhayat's passing

30 Oct - Azhar Sulaiman admitted that he was shocked upon finding out that fellow '90s star Badrul Muhayat has passed away.

The actor, who was reunited with Badrul earlier this year through a TV drama, stated that the last time he saw the late actor, Badrul was looking just fine.

"We reminisced a lot about the old days and shared about latest updates about ourselves. We also followed each other on social media although we rarely saw each other," he said.

Azhar, who spoke to the media at the Al-Hidayah Mosque where Badrul's body was prepped for his funeral, stated that the two met when he continued his studies in UiTM back in the '90s.

"I got to know him from there, and from then on, we would star in TV commercials, dramas, and finally work together in our first movie, 'Riang Tirana'. He was the lead and I was the supporting actor. We became close friends until we both got married and led different lives," he said.

Azhar also sadly added that both he and Badrul made their debut alongside Esma Daniel and Acappan during the same period, and that only he and Esma are still here now.

"It might be my turn next. So, I will try to prepare myself. When the time comes, there won't be any delay to it. I hope Badrul will be among the faithful," he added.

Badrul Muhayat, who had just remarried six months ago, passed away in his sleep at a homestay in Bukit Mertajam on 28 October. He was 55.
