Ayumi gives birth to her first child
18 Jun - Japanese-born South Korean singer Ayumi (also known as Yumi Ito) recently announced that she has given birth to her first child.
Sharing the good news on 15 June, the former ICONIQ and Sugar member revealed that her first daughter was born on 10 June.
"How long have I waited for this day.... Words cannot express how touched and grateful I am... A variety of emotions is pouring. Honestly, the first time was full of anxiety, but I'm full of gratitude to my daughter for the safe delivery," she expressed.
Friends and fans took to the comments to congratulate the singer, including 2NE1's Minzy, who wrote, "A big congratulations to you sis."
Ayumi was a member of the Korean-based idol group "Sugar" in 2002, and after the group disbanded, went on to work as a solo artiste in Korea. In 2009, she re-debuted in Japan under the group ICONIQ before relaunching herself in 2016 as Yumi Ito.
In 2022, she announced her marriage to her non-showbiz partner.
