Arjo Atayde praised for performance as character with autism

23 Sep – Arjo Atayde was recently applauded for his performance as a person with autism in the ABS-CBN series, "The General's Daughter".

As reported on Push, on 21 September, the Austism Society Philippines (ASP) took to Twitter to express their love for Atayde's performance in the recent episode of the show entitled "Napahamak", in which Atayde's character Elai grieves after his father Mayor Dante Velario (Emilio Garcia) passes away in front of him.

The organisation tweeted, "Arjo Atayde's portrayal of [autism] is sensitive and nuanced. The character was well developed and avoided stereotypical caricatures. Bravo!"

Atayde also retweeted the compliment, writing, "I did not expect this! Thank you so much. It means a lot. It really does. Thank you."

The Autism Society Philippines is a non-profit organisation that provides services for families with family members who have autism.
