'70s star Ching Li passed away

15 Dec – It was reported that 70s screen siren, Ching Li has recently passed away.

According to Mingpao, actress Helen Ma who was close to Ching, confirmed the news recently, saying that Ching passed away on 9 December at the age of 72.

"It's very sad. We're very close. I was one of her bridesmaids when she got married in 1970. She was everyone's cheer captain," she said.

Fellow actress Chiao Chiao also expressed sadness over the passing, saying that they shared a lot of memories together being Taiwanese who made their name in Hong Kong.

"We haven't been in contact for a long time. I only heard the news from friends. She left a little too soon," she said.

As for Ricky Lee, who was rumoured to have pursued Ching in the past, said that he is heartbroken over the news of her death.

Ching Li, daughter of actor Ching Miao, joined Shaw studio back in 1963 and went to become a popular actress who starred in many films and television dramas including "When the Clouds Roll By", "The Magic Blade", and "The Legend of Chu Liuxiang".

She had since retired from acting.
