Annie Chen is appointed ambassador of Taipei Film Festival

14 May – Taiwanese actress Annie Chen has recently been appointed as the ambassador of this year's Taipei Film Festival.

As reported on World Journal, the actress will be cooperating with director Hong Tzu-hsuan of "The Scoundrels" fame to shoot some action scenes to promote the said festival.

Speaking about her appointment as an ambassador, Annie couldn't help but laugh and said that the organiser was "very brave" for choosing her, though she is thankful to be given such opportunity.

"I have always loved watching movies, and would go to the cinemas on my own. Once while I was in a theatre, I heard the girl sitting next to me said to her boyfriend, "She is so pitiful, coming to the cinema alone". I even cried alone while watching, and a stranger offered me a tissue," she said.

Asked how she has been spending time since the pandemic situation has reduced a lot of her jobs, Annie said that she has been watching a lot of DVDs at home.

Although the Taipei Film Festival will be held as usual for its 22nd edition, the organiser revealed that its large-scale outdoor screening will be cancelled. It is slated to run from 25 June to 11 July.
