Anita Mui's fans against Daniella Wang playing Anita Mui
30 Mar – A lot of Anita Mui's fans are upset over reports that EDKO Films will be producing a biopic about their beloved idol that will star Hong Kong model Daniella Wang.
As reported on Mingpao, news of the project sparked recently, with sources saying that the company has hired director Longman Leung to helm the project that chronicles Anita's journey from her childhood to becoming a superstar.
The news was also confirmed by Anita's mother, Tam Mei Kam (also known as Mother Mui), who shared that the film company has contacted her as a consultant to provide more information. She also stressed that she will only agree after reviewing the story.
However, upon hearing that the company is casting its resident artiste and model Daniella Wang to play the late pop diva, many of Anita's fans expressed dissatisfaction - saying that the 28-year-old model does not have the same style and temperament as their idol.
Some even suggested that the company cast actress Alice Chan instead.
When asked about it, a rep from EDKO responded, "Everything is still in the early stages of planning. When it is ready, we will make an official announcement. Details will be shared with all media friends. Thank you for your concern."
