Andy Lau's studio denies producing "The Defected" movie

20 Apr – Andy Lau's film studio Infinitus Films recently denied hiring a man to rent a restaurant to be the set of a movie that it had no intention of adapting.
As reported on Singtao Daily, the studio, which is also a subsidiary of Andy's Focus Group Holdings, decided to release a statement following reports of a man named Gan impersonating an employee of the company and renting the premise for a supposed film adaptation of the TVB series, "The Defected".
The studio expressed, "Infinitus Films has never participated in the production of the film version of THE DEFECTED and has not assigned any employee to rent locations.
"This is completely a fraud and the aforementioned person might have other intentions. We urge everyone to remain vigilant and prevent such scam.
"If anyone continues with this false narrative or fraudulent behaviour, Infinitus Films will not hesitate to file a complaint with law enforcement agencies and hold the party accountable."
Even though the success of "The Defected", a 2019 Hong Kong crime drama, has led to it being the first TVB series to stream on Netflix, it has so far not confirmed any deal for a movie adaptation.
