Andy Lau to lose millions from concert cancellation

5 Feb – Andy Lau is expected to incur a loss of millions after announcing that his "My Love World Tour" in Hong Kong and Wuhan has been cancelled.

As reported on UDN, the singer who reportedly paid from his own pocket for the replacement shows at the Hong Kong Coliseum after having had to postponed it twice, may lose about HKD 10 million from the decision which was announced recently.

On 3 February, his concert organiser revealed that they have decided to cancel the 12 shows altogether in order to prevent a possible spread of the Coronavirus for the safety of audiences and performers alike.

"We are all working hard to protect the city. Please believe that all of our efforts are for a better meeting in the future," the organiser added.

Despite the announcement, many fans expressed hope that the show will only be postponed instead of cancelled, adding that they have no issue waiting for it as long as it takes.

On the other hand, many are suggesting that the world tour may be cancelling many more shows around mainland China, since Andy is also scheduled to perform in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing from March to May.

Andy previously postponed six shows of his Hong Kong concert after being diagnosed with a flu back in 2018.
