This amazing dad created a haircare line to help his daughter’s curls fight frizz
Curly hair has but one mortal enemy — frizz. While some choose to embrace it, others have searched far and wide for a solution.
Certified cool dad Boyce Clark started looking for a frizz-fighting solution after he and his 12-year-old daughter Alden grew weary of dealing with her hair’s reaction to the Louisiana humidity.
Alden lucked out, her dad (who is also a scientist with a P.h.D. in biogeochemistry) started to research her hair and learned that frizz is caused by irregularities in the hair’s structure that allows moisture into the hair and it causes it to swell. Dr. Clark spent an entire year testing out formulas before coming up with what would become the Lubricity Labs Penetrate/Encapsulate Treatment.

Designed to be used every six months as an alternative to a keratin treatment, Dr. Clark spoke to Refinery 29 and broke down how the two-step system works:
“You apply Step One on dry hair and wait 15 minutes. You do not wash it out. Then, you put on Step Two. Those two chemically react to your hair and they are binding to the keratin protein that naturally occurs in your hair, and it’s changing the shape of that keratin slightly.”
While Lubricity Labs recommends using their shampoo and conditioner to maintain the treatment, they assure us that you will not damage your curl pattern while using their products. The added moisture will help curls to become more manageable and can even extend the life of your hair color up to 40 percent.
