With Christmas just around the corner and crowds everywhere, the best and safest place to turn to for some Christmas spirit is your television. From cooking shows to children's animation to straight-up feel good dramas, this December might just take the edge off the mess that has been 2020.

If you follow Jamie Oliver, then he's got three food specials coming up on TLC starting from the day before Christmas Eve — Jamie's Italian Christmas, Jamie & Jimmy's Food Fight Club: Festive Feast, and Jamie's Easy Christmas Countdown. Fans of the HBO drama Euphoria will be delighted to know there's a Christmas special titled Trouble Don't Last Always. Netflix can be counted on to have a whole slew of Christmas shows, but the ones that catch our eye are Princess Switch: Switched Again and The Holiday Movies That Made Us.

While you’re here for this listicle, you should also check out the Yahoo team’s picks of the best classic Christmas movies here.

The Princess Switch: Switched Again (19 Nov)
Netflix

The sequel to The Prince and the Pauper style switcheroo comedy Princess Switch, Princess Switch: Switched Again sees Duchess Margaret (Vanessa Hudgens) unexpectedly inheriting the throne to Montenaro and hitting a rough patch with boyfriend Kevin. It's up to her double, Princess Stacy of Belgravia (Vanessa Hudgens), to get these star-crossed lovers back together... but the course of true love is complicated by the appearance of a handsome royal who's intent on stealing Margaret's heart. Throw in the unexpected arrival of Margaret's outrageous party girl cousin Fiona (also Vanessa Hudgens), a third look-alike who has ambitions of her own, and you have the recipe for Christmas triple trouble!

Princess Switch: Switched Again tries to mix it up by throwing in a third doppelgänger, which is an admirable effort at trying to extend a premise past its shelf life, but also strains the limits of believability. Nevertheless, the show is really more about the Christmas season. Plus, it's rather hilarious to see Vanessa Hudgens getting into hijinks with herself.

The Holiday Movies That Made Us (1 Dec)
Netflix

From the same producers who created The Toys That Made Us and The Movies That Made us, this series reveals the trials and tribulations that took place behind the scenes of famous Christmas movies like Elf and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Comprising only two episodes, this is a relatively short season that promises to explore two memorable holiday movies and reveal its secrets to us. While not everyone was enthused by Will Ferrell's outing in Elf (his over the top "comedy" can overwhelm whatever good nature he's supposed to have), The Nightmare Before Christmas still remains as a classic. Ironically, both movies aren't on Netflix.

Euphoria: Trouble Don’t Last Always (7 Dec, Mondays 11pm)
HBO (Starhub Ch 601; Singtel Ch 420) & HBO GO

The teen drama Euphoria returns for two specials before Season Two premieres. After getting cold feet in the first season finale, Rue (Zendaya) returns home as Jules (Hunter Schafer) leaves town on a train. She ends up having a relapse of her addiction, and this special deals with the consequences of her actions, given that she has to deal with a painful Christmas without Jules.

Inspired and partly based on the Israeli miniseries of the same name, Euphoria has tackled many diverse issues, such as mental health, gender issues and addiction. While these may be heavy topics to deal with during the Christmas season, the specials should answer some questions as we wait for a second season. This is the first of two specials, with the second part focusing on Jules, who was last seen departing on a train.
