Alex Scott receives Honorary Fellowship from university for her contribution to sport

British sports commentator and presenter Alex Scott received an Honorary Fellowship from Queen Mary University of London for "invaluable and distinctive contribution to the world of sport".

Taking to Instagram yesterday (2 August), Alex posted a series of snaps in her graduation cap and gown, holding her certificate in her hands. The images also shows her receiving her award on stage, making a speech and posing with her mother, Carol, and her friend, Sarah.

Captioning the snaps, she wrote, "Took mama to uni with me 🖤 Thank you @officialqmul for awarding me an Honorary Fellowship for invaluable contribution to the world of sport, social purpose and inclusion… what a special day. Slide 6: my friend Sarah graduated from the university 25 years ago, I was with her Celebrating her special day, fast forward to the present she came to celebrate with me 🥰"

Alex's almost two million fans, followers and friends were keen to pass on their congratulations in the comments. Carol Vorderman replied, "Humungous congratulations Alex xx ❤️ 👏👏👏👏👏 so well deserved."

Co-presenter of The Martin Lewis Money Show, Angellica Bell, also showed her appreciation by commenting, "LOVE DIS. ❤️🔥😍🙌🏽".

The Instagram account for Queen Mary University of London also shared a post to mark Alex's achievement.

A caption reads: "It’s the final day of #QMULGrad and our Queen Mary University of London graduates have been celebrating with proud parents, family members and friends all week. Alex Scott MBE, who was awarded an Honorary Fellowship at Monday’s ceremony, also celebrated with her mum."
