The Air Jordan 2 and Air Jordan 3 Have Been Mashed Up Into One Sneaker

A hybrid sneaker mashing up the Air Jordan 2 and Air Jordan 3 has quietly began making its way to retailers.

The upper of the Air Jordan 2 sits atop the sole unit of the Air Jordan 3 for a rather simple but new arrangement. It follows the lead of a Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 2 hybrid that released in 2015, although Michael Jordan actually wore such a makeup after returning from a broken foot during his second season in the NBA.

“Varsity Red” rings in the Air Jordan 2/3’s debut, as the namesake color forms the sockliner, tongue Wings logo, trim and portions of the heel. White then forms the rest of the sneaker, including an off-white midsole, with the exception of a grey outsole.

Joining the Air Jordan 2 and Air Jordan 3 invokes a crucial early moment in Jordan’s relationship with Nike. He hated his second signature shoe, thinking it was too ugly and bulky, and was considering leaving the brand once his contract was up. The Air Jordan 3, Tinker Hatfield’s first design for the franchise, helped convince him to stay — and the AJ3 has always trumped its direct predecessor in popularity.

Undefeated put the Air Jordan 2/3 “Varsity Red” up for sale Tuesday on its website with no fanfare, and all but a men’s size 8 have sold out. A wider release through the Snkrs app and other retailers has yet to be announced but should likely come soon. Pricing is set at $160.
