Ahmad Tarmimi Siregar wins first Best Actor at AIFFA

7 Aug – Local thespian Ahmad Tarmimi Siregar is elated to win his first ever Best Actor award at the ASEAN International Film Festival.

The 74-year-old actor, who won for his performance in the Indonesian film, "Perjalanan Pertama", admitted that it was a worthy trip from KL to Kuching, Sarawak, where the event was held, to be able to attend and accept the accolade.

"This is my first win as Best Actor after more than 40 years in the industry. All this while, I have only won as a supporting actor. I am also proud to be on stage myself to accept the award," he enthused.

Ahmad Tarmimi stated that he didn't even know he was nominated at first, and only found out about it a day before the awarding event.

He thanked director Arief Malinmudo for casting him in the lead role in the movie, stating that the filmmaker really persuaded him to star in the film.

The actor bested other actors that include Philippine's own Andrew Ramsay ("Ginhawa") and fellow Malaysian Amerul Affendi ("Prebet Sapu").
