ABS-CBN compensates workers despite production shutdown

17 Mar – Despite shutting down all productions following the lockdown of the Metro Manila area, it was reported that ABS-CBN has ensured that all of its employees will receive compensation despite no work.

As reported on Rappler, this information was confirmed by The Professional Artistes Managers Inc. (PAMI) in a statement where they thanked the network for its "swift and decisive action to help contain the spread of COVID-19 by temporarily suspending all of its productions involving artists, specifically; and all its cast and crew members in general.

"ABS-CBN gave us managers and all our artists the needed reassurance that, beyond ratings and revenues, the health and safety of all their Kapamilyas will always be their paramount concern."

"Furthermore, we appreciate, their kindest and most generous consideration to continue compensating the cast and crew of ongoing productions during the suspension period without the need for request or demand," the statement added.

The Kapamilya network announced last week that it will temporarily halt productions of its shows like "Pamilya Ko" and "Ang Probinsyano" and will instead replace the slots these shows are in with old series like "100 Days of Heaven" and "On the Wings of Love".

Comedienne Melai Cantiveros also took to social media to thank the network, saying, "Thank you Kapamilya network, my company, for the quick action on COVID-19 and not neglecting workers either."
