"Abang Adik" nominated for Hong Kong Film Awards' Best Asian Chinese Language Film

8 Feb - "Abang Adik" is getting another recognition, as it is now nominated for the Best Asian Chinese Language Film category at the upcoming Hong Kong Film Awards.

The movie, helmed by Malaysian director Jin Ong and produced by fellow Malaysian and Taiwan-based actress Angelica Lee, will be competing for the accolade against the Taiwanese film "The Pig, the Snake and the Pigeon" and "Marry My Dead Body, as well as China's "No More Bets" and "Full River Red".

Sharing the good news on social media, the movie team wrote, " Nominated in the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards [Best Asian Chinese Language Film]. Thank you for the affirmation from all the judges."

In addition to the HKFA nomination, it was also revealed that the movie has been selected for the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) - LNF Splash Category.

Starring Wu Kang-ren and Jack Tan, "Abang Adik" tells the story of a pair of undocumented orphans in Malaysia; Abang, a deaf mute person and his younger brother Adik who struggle in a poverty-stricken and crime-ridden environment.
