Aaron Kwok admits he nearly quit playing Sun Wukong

24 Jan – Aaron Kwok recently admitted that he nearly quit playing Sun Wukong for the second time after finding out how tough it was to play the character for "The Monkey King 2".

As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who appeared at the promotional event of the third instalment, "The Monkey King: Kingdom of Women" recently, stated that it was challenging to do comedy while wearing his monkey costume.

"The last time I did it, the character was quite dramatic, so I didn't want to do it again. But then I got the itch to do it again, because it had been two years and I forgot the pain of doing it," he said.

Aaron stated that it was only after he arrived on the first day of work and seeing the make-up artist that he felt like turning around and quitting.

"I was scared. I even called [my manager] Siu Mei and said I want to quit. She told me I couldn't," he joked.

When asked if he would reprise his role again in the future, Aaron responded, "I want to play the monk instead. It would be more convenient."
