5 baddies who should be in Singapore’s version of the Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad is about the eponymous team of super powered criminals who are sent on suicide missions to save the world (since they’re facing life sentences anyway). Super villain teams are always fun, especially when they have to go against their normally devious traits to save the world.

So what would Singapore’s Suicide Squad look like? For one, it’ll probably be named the Si-Liao Squad, since they’re going to be facing situations where everyone is screaming “Si liao!” And there’s actually a lot of colourful villains to choose from, despite Singapore being a tiny island nation.

So we present to you – the Si-Liao Squad!

1. Frankie Foo from Phua Chu Kang

If you thought that Phua Chu Kang was a bad example (eh, come on la, he is quite a bad example, just that he’s very funny), then Frankie Foo is like Phua Chu Kang without any of the redeeming qualities. While Phua Chu Kang may be cheapskate, Frankie Foo cheats his customers outright. He’s always trying to steal Rosie and Phua Chu Kang’s business, and represents everything terrible about Singaporeans.

So he’d make a perfect first recruit to the Si-Liao Squad! His specialty would be demolitions – make sense since he knows exactly how many corners he cut in building all those houses.

2. Stanley Sim from Masters of the Sea: In Troubled Waters

In case you didn’t remember, Masters of the Sea had two seasons, and Lim Kay Tong played the big bad for Season 2, subtitled In Troubled Waters. He was an unscrupulous businessman that Margaret Chan’s character threatened to “crush like a cockroach!” Wow. He must have been vermin.

So he’d be the perfect corporate mogul type villain to add to Singapore’s Suicide Squad!

3. Click Click Man from VR Man

The Click Click Man was a reference to the double click of the mouse, but since Double Click Man doesn’t sound threatening either, I guess someone tossed a coin and decided to call him Click Click Man. He was the evil crippled computer genius that plagued VR Man in the first half of the season. Honestly, anything that can plague VR Man would be really dangerous.

So let’s add Click Click Man as the evil genius of the Si-Liao Squad! He’ll be the one who comes up with the evil devices and vehicles that those dastardly villains would use.

4. Lawrence from Pretty Faces

If you’re old enough to remember Zoe Tay in Pretty Faces, then you’ll remember that Lawrence was the debt-ridden boyfriend who caused her character, Bobo, to be raped in one of the most memorable episodes of national television. In fact, nobody really remembers every single plot twist of this 30-episode drama, just that Lawrence was a real scumbag.

He’s the epitome of bad boyfriend, and would be useful as the manipulative muscle of the team. After all, someone has to outwit the good guys, right?

5. Long Tingguang from The Unbeatables

And then there’s the gambling maniac Long Tingguang, who keeps returning to plague Yan Fei (Li Nanxing) despite being defeated multiple times. This effectively means that he’s quite a bad gambler if you think about it since he keeps losing, but he’s flashy enough to make everyone forget that he’s actually quite terrible as a casino professional.

Long Tingguang can serve as the Joker of the Si-Liao Squad, what with the same gambling theme that the both have. He’s not as insane, but he’s also just as difficult to kill as the Joker.

While we might be excited to see Singapore’s own version of the Suicide Squad, don’t forget to catch the actual Suicide Squad, which sees DC’s worst band together to save the world! This band of super powered criminals find themselves becoming Earth’s mightiest… saviours, since they really don’t have much of a choice.
