As popular as it is to make your interior design look like the home of the future, there's an unmistakable charm to finding a vintage piece full of character. According to the 1stDibs Annual Trend Survey for 2025, designers have vintage furniture and decor top of mind. In fact, in 2024 alone, 81 percent of designers sourced items dating back to the 1920s through the 1990s. And demand is on track to be just as high this year.
Other findings that caught our attention? Interest in mid-century modern pieces is slowly declining, as only seven percent of designers reported looking for those pieces in 2025. However, Art Deco and Bauhaus aesthetics from the 1920s and 1930s are on the rise. Bespoke furniture and lighting from these eras are at the top of designer shopping lists.
We combed through the 1stDibs 2025 trend survey and end-of-year commerce report to call out the most coveted vintage pieces that hundreds of designers are searching for, in case you want to incorporate these gems into your own design. Some recognizable finds, including the Eames Lounge Chair and Noguchi Akari Lamp, are still top of mind. But a few more dark horses have entered the race for most coveted decor items, and they're ready to make your home feel super curated. Scroll on for the ones you should pay extra close attention to. And if you spot them at a flea market or estate sale, don't leave them behind!
Vladimir Kagan Serpentine Sofa
Vladimir Kagan ‘Serpentine’ Sofa
It's no surprise that this iconic curved sofa is one of the most requested vintage pieces. The Vladimir Kagan Serpentine sofa came in second place on the designer request list for seating, just behind the Eames chair. 13 percent of designers who responded to 1stDibs survey named the Serpentine sofa as one of the top vintage pieces they're searching for. As the "fun sofa" makes its way back into design, and we slowly move away from minimalist interiors, this adds a sculptural feel to your space. Find one in the latte brown upholstery, and you can still maintain a neutral palette, if desired, while making a major style statement.
Kaare Klint Safari Chair

In third place on designer seating requests? The Kaare Klint Safari chair. This was a surprise entry, as the chair was previously unranked in 1stDibs's survey. Danish designer Kaare Klint originally designed the chair in 1933, and he modeled it after a chair he spotted on an African safari. The unique curved arms and canvas fabric almost give the chair a hammock look, with angled seating for extra relaxation and support.
Murano Glass Pendants and Chandeliers
Palmette Chandelier
For popular vintage lighting, seek out Murano glass pendants and chandeliers. The ornate look is in this year, according to 27 percent of respondents to the 1stDibs survey. This is the most-highly anticipated vintage lighting for 2025—a major increase from 2024, when only 19 percent of respondents coveted the items. The glass fixtures are all about attention to detail. They involve intricate, multicolored designs that would be the showstopper of any room.
Art Deco Chairs
Charles Dudouyt Fireside Low Chair
Art Deco is by far the most sought-after aesthetic for 2025, specifically in vintage seating. "Art Deco pieces from the 1920s and '30s continue to appeal because they are elegantly anchored in the modern—streamlined forms, simplified ornamentation—while looking back to the craftsmanship and creativity that graces the best antiques," 1stDibs Editorial Director Anthony Barzilay Freund wrote in the report. Chairs from designers of the era including Charles Dudouyt, Jules Leleu, and Jean-Michel Frank are some of the most iconic looks of the time period, and outfitting your living or dining room in them will fill the space with the Art Deco vibe.
Gio Ponti Chairs and Lighting
Gio Ponti 2-Light Wall Sconce
Italian designer Gio Ponti's name popped up in three different categories of 1stDibs's trend report: furniture, chairs, and lighting. In each category, designers noted a rise in interest, and we can absolutely see why. His decorative fixtures are perfect for fans of tasteful maximalism and bright colors. Plus, his iconic chairs are an ode to Italian modernism, so they make any room feel extra chic. If you want an aesthetic that is simultaneously of the past and the future, Ponti's pieces are the way to go.
George Nakashima Wooden Tables and Cabinetry

Warm-toned wood can do so much to ground a space and keep it from feeling too cold. George Nakashima's wooden furniture feels fresh off the forest floor, cut and designed to look as natural as possible. Interest in his pieces rose between 2024 and 2025, as people look for mindful ways to appreciate nature's imperfections in their space. "A leader of the American studio craft movement, George Nakashima worked wonders with wood," Freund wrote. "His exceptional craftsmanship, realized with traditional joinery, is evident in the sculptural forms of his timeless Conoid chairs, live-edge tables and fine cabinetry."
Art Nouveau Pieces
Émile Gallé Cameo Glass and Bronze Table Lamp
Vintage flourishes are taking over ultra-sleek, clean designs. The Art Nouveau period that preceded Art Deco is a strong example of this, and it was one of the most searched terms in furniture for 1stDibs. Glass lighting from this era is set apart by its flowing lines and floral iconography. The style is perfect for fans of biophilic design. "The highly decorative Art Nouveau style is well suited to the tastes of today's maximalists and organic modernists," Freund wrote. "With its exquisite color tones and stylized natural motifs, Art Nouveau-period glass lighting by Émile Gallé and his American contemporary Louis Comfort Tiffany continues to be a favorite among collectors."
