15 kid-friendly restaurants in Singapore for family fun time [Dec 2024 update]

When I was younger, nothing would excite me more than when my parents would bring me out for some quality bonding time over quality food. Better yet, if the restaurant had a playground, or simply space for me to run around and play.

Parents, if you have kids with preferences like I had, or are simply racking your brain over where to take your family this weekend, we gotcha. Here’s a selection of 15 kid-friendly restaurants in Singapore for family fun time.

P.S. plenty of these spots are picky eater-friendly!

1. Beauty In The Pot

Ah, hotpot — the perfect meal for any occasion: birthdays, anniversaries, reunion dinners, you name it. I’m sure that even the pickiest kids can’t resist a hearty hotpot dinner! Of the many restaurants in Singapore, Beauty In The Pot is a go-to for its premium ingredients and nourishing soup bases packed with flavour and beauty benefits.

Fun fact, their VivoCity outlet has a dedicated play area for the kiddos, complete with slides and a mini jungle gym. It’s fully padded too, so you can enjoy your meal worry-free.

For the best bang for your buck, opt for the Quart Pot, which includes 4 soup bases of your choice. A must-get is the rich and creamy Beauty Collagen Broth (S$10.80 for Quart, S$S$17.80 for Twin, S$34.80 for Single), which has a whopping 8-hour preparation time. Other favourites include the Immunity Clear Chicken Broth (S$9.50/S$16/S$28.80) and Slimming Spicy Beef Tallow Broth (S$9.50/S$16/S$28.80).

Now, take a look at that adorable Signature Homemade Fish Tofu (S$3 per piece)! Moulded into the shape of koi fish, each morsel is a sweet, briny blend of yellowtail, soybean and egg white. That aside, treat yourself to a luxurious platter of US Wagyu Beef (S$29.40 for half, S$58.80 for full), or just about anything from our whole list of ingredient recommendations here.

With a name that means private in French, the popular Privé delivers on cosy ambience for intimate get-togethers over great food. You’ll find that most of their many outlets throughout the island offer al fresco dining — which means plenty of scoot space for the kids (and even pets, at some of ‘em).

Special shoutouts to the Keppel Bay and Botanic Gardens outlets; the former has an outdoor playground while the latter has an indoor playground complete with a fun corner with colouring books, a line-up of kid-friendly activities and get this: a rock climbing wall!

Privé’s menu caters to everyone in the family, and we mean everyone. The Kids’ Set Menu (S$15) is available at all locations and is sure to please the little ones. It entitles kids 10 and under to a Light Breakfast or Light Main of their choice, along with a Light Dessert and either Apple or Orange Juice. Think fun-sized portions of the dishes you can get for yourself.

Available until 5pm daily, the breakfast menu features items like the Caramelised Brioche Kaya Toast (S$16 for adults) and the Full English Breakfast (S$26 for adults) — a hearty plate of the works: eggs (any style), pork Bratwurst, baked beans and many more. Where mains are concerned, you can find dishes like Laksa Seafood Spaghetti (S$20 for adults), Fish & Chips (S$14 for kids, S$27.50 for adults) and even Hainanese Chicken Rice (S$16.50 for soy chicken, S$18.50 for steamed chicken).

Jimmy Monkey Cafe is a Melbourne-inspired cafe with all-day brunch, an extensive line-up of sweet and savoury bites and award-winning coffee brewed with Singapore’s first Slayer Espresso machines.

The brand has 2 outlets that cater to different vibes. If you’re looking for a laid-back, Instagrammable indoor spot to chill out at in the afternoon, their flagship One North outlet has exactly. Otherwise, you can head to their PLQ Parkside one, where you can unwind al fresco while the kiddos cavort in the huge playground right outside.

All-day brunch? I don’t think anyone can say no to that. Try out The Hulk (S$17), which features smashed whole avocado served with chunks of creamy feta cheese and housemade dukkha served atop sourdough toast. 4. Baker & Cook

Atas as it is, Dempsey is one of the best areas to hit up if you’re searching for kid-friendly spaces to hang out at. Baker & Cook will be joining your list for sure — it’s got a quaint little playground made of wood for kids to run, jump and play at.

They’ve got a bouncy swing, a ship, ride-ons and even an adorable treehouse to keep the young ones content while the parents indulge in hearty platters of good food.

Don’t miss out on the Dempsey outlet’s exclusive selection of Blackboard Specials, which includes: Fettuccine Bolognese with Burrata (S$21.80), Sous-vide Pork Belly with Apple Purée & Cherry Tomatoes (S$20.80) and Pan-Seared Salmon with Charred Lettuce & Lentils (S$22.80).

If you like fresh sourdough as much as I do, some hearty brunch items you can look forward to include the Big Breakfast with Sourdough (S$25), Eggs Benedict (S$17.50) and Peter Gordon’s Turkish Eggs (S$19.90), all of which come with Baker & Cook’s famous Sprouted Wheat Sourdough.

Surrounded by lush greenery in the Changi area, The Coastal Settlement is an all-in-one restaurant, cafe and bar where you can unwind over great nosh while basking in the tranquil atmosphere. With spacious decks and a sprawling lawn with swings, there is plenty of space for kids to run around and play.

The kid-friendly spot is steeped in history — it sits on a site formerly operated by the British Royal Air Force as a military base during the colonial period. Its quaint interior is also adorned with retro memorabilia, vintage vehicles and antique furniture.

The Coastal Settlement puts a contemporary twist on various local dishes, including Truffle Wagyu Hor Fun (S$34), Assam Fish Head Curry (S$45) and a Claypot Seafood Risotto (S$68 for 2 pax) that’s full of seafood. Other noteworthy selections I have my eye on are the Ribeye Mac & Cheese (S$48), Char-Grilled Kurobuta (S$39) and many more.

Treat your family to a sweet treat from the range of desserts, which features indulgences like Sticky Date Pudding (S$16) served with butterscotch and vanilla ice cream and the TCS Waffle Stack (S$18), a stacked creation of waffles, fruits, maple syrup, nutella, chantilly cream and triple dark chocolate gelato.

6. IKEA

IKEA prides itself as a family-loving brand, and I’m sure families love it too. They’ve got 3 outlets islandwide: Jem, Alexandra and Tampines, each home to their world-famous Swedish restaurant and bistro, where families can enjoy affordable Swedish dishes and dedicated kids’ menus.

In case you aren’t already familiar, the Alexandra and Tampines branches house supervised play areas called Småland, with ball pits and whimsical play structures designed for young children. They’re free-of-charge, too, so parents can drop off the kiddos for an afternoon of fun while they shop for furniture stress-free.

Reward everyone for a great day out by indulging in a meal at IKEA’s kid-friendly restaurant, where their fare has satisfied more families than we can count.

It goes without saying that no trip to IKEA is complete without tucking into their Swedish Meatballs (S$3.50 for 5 pieces, S$7.50 for 8 pieces), served with a side of mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes. Some other favourites of mine include the Chicken Wings (S$4 for 2, S$7.50 for 4, S$9.50 for 6) and Salmon Fillet with lemon dill sauce (S$11.50) and especially the Crunchy Almond Chocolate Cake (S$4.50) AKA happiness in a slice.

Looking for a little change in scenery or something a little different? Say, letting the young ones play at the beach while you relax with your spouse over cold drinks? Trapizza at Siloso Beach is where you should be. Nothing beats an al fresco chill-out, with the cool palm breeze kissing your face.

This Italian bistro is a great spot for a day of fun and fantastic food for the whole family, especially on the weekends.

Trapizza’s got your back with their kid-friendly menu, with items like Chicken Nuggets & Fries (S$12) and the Trapizza Waffle Burger (S$14) — a beef patty, cheese and lettuce sandwiched between waffle buns, served with smiley fries. There’s even a cool Build Your Own Bento (S$18) option, which includes pasta, a slice of pizza, a healthy side of corn, salad or fruit and a refreshing glass of juice, all plated in an adorable car-shaped dish

Parents can unwind over handcrafted pizza from Trapizza’s expansive selection of 13 types. Try out the Chef-recommended Pizza Siciliana (S$29), which stars traditional Sicilian pork sausage and pork salami or the Pizza Quattro Formaggi (S$26), which is bound to be every cheese lover’s dream.

Located right next to Dempsey Hill, Open Farm Community prides itself on sustainable farm-to-table dining, with dishes whipped up with ingredients fresh from their in-house vegetable and fruit orchards. Through offering tours and farming workshops on top of quality dining, this kid-friendly restaurant seeks to provide families with a platform to explore food together.

Participate in any of the restaurant’s slew of activities that engage both the young and old, one of which is lawn bowling, held in an open-space area next to the al fresco dining area. Alternatively, you could just hang back with a glass of wine while the kids frolic at the playground.

Start your day with some OFC Farm Bread (S$12) — fresh-baked sourdough and focaccia served with flavoured salted butter, or a refreshing Granola & Coconut Yoghurt Bowl (S$18) topped with tropical seasonal fruits, granola and honey.

Where mains are concerned, feast on the Steak & Eggs (S$45), a hearty platter of 200gm USDA Sirloin, laksa chimichurri and spiced chips, or the Spanish Omelet (S$29), which features locally grown assorted mushrooms and mushroom XO butter.

9. PS.Cafe

ps cafe - storefront

PS.Cafe is touted as “the place for legendary brunches and lazy afternoon teas, romantic dates and friendly celebrations” and I couldn’t agree more. Checking boxes for great service and great food in generous portions, this restaurant chain has cemented itself as one of Singaporeans’ favourite places to dine with loved ones.

They’ve got multiple locations islandwide, each comfortable and artfully furnished. My personal favourite is their One Fullerton outlet. Situated right along Fullerton Bay, it sports a breathtaking view of the Singapore skyline. Besides, is there a better way to end a nice meal than with a stroll along the Singapore River boardwalk?

The food at PS.Cafe more than makes up for the steep menu prices, in both flavour and portion sizes. One dish that never ceases to impress is the famous PS. Truffle Fries (S$12 for half, S$18 for full) — crispy golden shoestring fries coated generously in fragrant truffle oil and a heap of parmesan shreds. A single portion of this is more than enough to satisfy my family of 4.

As a diehard pasta lover, I recommend the Chicken Rossa Penne (S$27) — al dente pasta tossed in a garlic tomato cream sauce, topped generously with spinach, mushrooms and sautéed chicken.

Whether you’re a sweet tooth or not, I implore you not to give the desserts section a miss. The Double Chocolate Blackout Cake (S$18) is surely the heavenly gratification that chocolate lovers and kids need. The Sticky Date Pudding (S$15) isn’t shabby as well.

10. Huber’s Bistro

Huber’s Bistro was flourishing well at Dempsey Hill, so much that it moved down the hill to a bigger space. The ‘newly colonised’ area is an expansion of the bistro, adding on to the two-storey butchery that Huber’s occupies at the top of the hill.

Nestled in nature, the bistro now has a casual, more al fresco-themed ambience to it. It even has a soft-fall playground next to it, where you can park your young ones as you and your spouse relax over your weekend brunch and date.

Well, it’s a butchery; of course you have to try out Huber’s meats! The Huber’s Beef Burger with Bacon & Gruyere Cheese (S$21) is as tantalising as it looks. Think: a hefty, juicy 100% pure Australian beef patty topped with melty cheese, smoky bacon and caramelised onions. Handheld perfection, if you will.

If you enjoy tearing into a tender hunk of steak, opt for the Argentinian Grass-fed Beef Sirloin (S$35), topped with their house-made herb butter brown sauce, served with vegetables and fries. Give the other meat options a go while you’re there, too, such as the Sausage Of The Day (S$14) and the Pork Cordon Bleu (S$19) — a deep-fried Canadian pork chop stuffed with Huber’s ham and Gruyere cheese.

Tucked away from the bustle of the city in Goodman Arts Centre and Mediapolis is Cafe Melba, an idyllic spot for a laid-back meal with your family. An Australian-inspired cafe, it serves up classics as well as gourmet coffees and luxury teas.

What we love most about Cafe Melba is its layout — diners have the freedom of choosing whether to dine indoors or out at a bench on the lawn, complete with a bouncy castle for the kids to have a whale of a time.

Sip on a refreshing drink together with your child from their wide range of beverages, from indulgent milkshakes in flavours like Oreo (S$11), to smoothies like Blueberry (S$13) and the fruity, oat-loaded Breakfast Smoothie (S$13) and healthier juices like Green Juice (S$13) and the refreshing Waikiki (S$12).

Not forgetting the special kid-friendly menu, which consists of scrumptious mains in well-tailored portions, like 9” Pizzas, Waffles, Mini Breakfast and the Mini Angus Burger, served with either fries or steamed vegetables. Each order comes with either Yakult or an Oatside Chocolate Oat Milk and a complimentary Apple Ice Block, along with an activity sheet and colour pencils for the kids to pass the time.
