11 stalls to visit in Ci Yuan Hawker Centre for an incredible taste of the North East
Here’s a spot to visit the next time you’re in the Hougang vicinity. Ci Yuan Hawker Centre is Singapore’s only hawker centre located within a community club— the stalls are all located on the first floor, while the club rooms and facilities are on the upper floors.
The hawker centre features around 40 stalls and a seating capacity of up to 640 pax. What makes it stand out even more is the fact that there are occasional live music performances here, allowing you to enjoy your affordable meals with entertainment.
Wondering what lies in store for you? Here are 11 stalls to visit in Ci Yuan Hawker Centre for an incredible taste of the North East.
1. HK Wanton Noodle (#01-06)
HK Wanton Noodle lives up to its store name, with plenty of tasty wanton mee dishes on the menu, starting from just S$4. The signature Wanton Noodles (S$4) comes with a heap of noodles, slices of char siew, one fried wanton and green vegetables, accompanied by a bowl of soup containing 2 pieces of boiled wantons. The clear broth is surprisingly delicious, with a clean-taste and natural sweetness.
Another dish to look out for is the Braised Soft Pork Ribs Noodles (S$5), topped with the most tender, fall-off-the-bone pork ribs. They also have Mushroom Chicken Feet Noodle (S$4), Shredded Chicken Hor Fun (S$4) and Wanton Noodle Soup (S$3). With such affordable prices and great quality, you’ll have to place this stall on your list of places to try soon.

2. Hong Kong Chef’s Kitchen (#01-23/24)
Where are all the zi char lovers at? Hong Kong Chef’s Kitchen has an extensive menu consisting of all the noodles, rice, soups, seafood, meat and veggies you could dream of. Most dishes are available in 2 portions, small or medium, ensuring that you’ll be able to feed different group sizes.
You must get the Prawn Paste Mid Chicken Wing (S$6 for 5 pieces), which was a classic example of har cheong gai done right. These wings were supremely crispy on the outside with a strong prawn paste flavour. The Fu Rong Omelette (S$9 for small, S$13 for medium) was pretty decent too— it contained bits of chive and prawns.
There are plenty of single-serving dishes in case you’re dining alone. The Sweet & Sour Pork Rice (S$6) is a safe bet, though you could also go for the Cereal Chicken Rice (S$6.50) or Sliced Fish Poached Rice (S$6.80).

3. Yong HK Roasted Meat (#01-22)
You can’t go wrong with a classic plate of roasted meat rice. At Ci Yuan Hawker Centre, you’ll conveniently find all your roast meat needs at Yong HK Roasted Meat— plates here start from just S$3.50, with the Soya Sauce Chicken Rice being one of the cheaper options.
I opted for the Signature Three Treasure Platter Rice (S$7.50), which came with a decent portion of roast pork, char siew and duck meat. I also added a fried egg for S$1, making my meal filling and full of meaty variety. This definitely wasn’t the best roast meat rice I’ve had—the 3 types of meat were pretty average—but it did its job in providing me with a satiating and tasty meal. The egg was a nice touch too.

4. Munchi Pancakes (#01-39)
No min jiang kueh stall even comes close to Munchi Pancakes, in my opinion. With the incredible variety of unique flavours and generous amounts of filling, I find myself coming back to this stall over and over again, which is why I was excited to see that they had an outlet in Ci Yuan Hawker Centre.
The traditional Min Jiang Kuehs here cost from S$1.60 to S$2.50, depending on the fillings you pick. Personally, I always go straight for the titular Munchi Pancakes, which are circular in shape and absolutely stuffed with fillings. The Peanut (S$1.80) is a classic option, though you could go for more inventive and uncommon flavours like Biscoff (S$2.80), Black Sesame (S$2.20), Oreo Cheese (S$2.20), Strawberry Cheese (S$2.20) and even Bandung Cheese (S$2.20). Every bite of these little pancakes is true bliss.

11. Dharsha Indian Cuisine (#01-43)
Dharsha Indian Cuisine has a pretty large menu, and even sells drinks, which is not a common sight for a hawker stall. Their offerings include various kinds of prata, dosai, goreng and other a la carte staples.
I opted for the Cheese Egg Mushroom Prata (S$4), which was honestly pretty average— it was more on the doughy side, though the cheese and mushroom within gave it some salty flavour. Skip the Butter Chicken Masala (S$6), as the chicken chunks within were very boney and quite dry. It also lacked any dimensional flavour and just tasted salty, in my opinion. Perhaps their other mains would fare better.
Meanwhile, drink options include Ice Bandung (S$2), Teh Cino (S$2.50) and Mango Lassi (S$3.50).
