Those living in the Clementi area are definitely familiar with Clementi 448 Market & Food Centre— this busy hawker centre is conveniently located in the heart of the lively marketplace right outside Clementi MRT Station, making it an extra accessible location for a meal.
With plenty of stalls that amass long queues, the variety in this food centre is commendable. Here are 11 stalls to check out in Clementi 448 Market & Food Centre to explore the next time you’re in the West.
1. Fried Carrot Cake (#01-45)
Fried Carrot Cake definitely won’t be winning any “creative name” competitions, but at least it’s straightforward. The popularity of this stall is evident, with long queues forming on a daily basis. Choose between either black or white carrot cake, priced at S$4, S$5 or S$6.
The black version is darkly sweet from the soy sauce, for those who prefer stronger flavours. The white version, on the other hand, allows for its components to shine, with an underlying smokiness and a nice savouriness from the chye poh and crisp fried egg. Get a portion of chilli on the side to complement your carrot cake with a bit of spice.
It’s no wonder why this stall is so popular, both the young and old love it!

2. Kee Hock (#01-43)
Though Kee Hock is known for its hor fun, its other offerings are equally as worth trying. Their famous Hor Fun is priced at S$5.50 per plate, and is available in the variations of Fish & Prawn, Beef and Sliced Fish.
The chewy flat noodles are served in hot, smooth gravy, with a deep wok hei smokiness to provide them with a depth of flavour.
The other dishes at the stall to try include the Beef Mui Fan (S$5.50), served with the same savoury gravy as used in the hor fun, and Imperial Pork Ribs Rice (S$6), topped with sweet and sour pork.
Grab some a la carte dishes to share with your dining companions— the Ginger & Spring Onion Beef is available in either a S$11 or S$16 portion.

3. Chai Ho Satay (#01-10)
Chai Ho Satay is pretty well known for its delicious and affordable satay. Aside from satay, they also sell bak kwa and pork floss— perfect for Chinese New Year celebrations.
Each satay stick costs S$0.65, and is available in either pork or chicken. Take note that there is a 10 stick minimum order requirement.
Each piece of satay is nicely charred with a good balance of sweetness and savouriness. With bits of fat sandwiched between meatier portions, each bite is a delight, combining chewy and gelatinous textures. The peanut sauce on the side is the perfect pairing, as it has a nutty, slightly roasted aroma and fragrance.
To complement your satay, consider adding some Ketupat for S$0.80.

4. Hong Xing Li Chicken Rice (#01-25)
Hong Xing Li Chicken Rice certainly wins when it comes to presentation. This stall within Clementi 448 Market & Food Centre plates its dishes so beautifully that they look like they came straight out of a restaurant. The stall itself is decorated with ornate red lanterns and ribbons, making it stand out from its competitors.
The 2 in 1 Premium Chicken Rice Set Meal (S$6) is the perfect pick for those who can’t decide between having either steamed or roasted chicken. Both varieties of meat are tender and flavourful with just the right amount of fat.
My favourite is the Sambo Rice Set (S$7.50), which includes 3 types of meat: roasted chicken, char siew and crispy pork belly. Why settle for just one kind of meat when you can enjoy all of them?

5. Song Fish Soup (#01-38)
The queues at the vibrantly-lit Song Fish Soup are a testament to its quality. This 2024 MICHELIN Bib Gourmand hawker is one of the most famous stalls in Clementi 448 Market & Food Centre, specialising in—you guessed it—fish soup.
The signature Sliced Fish Bee Hoon Soup (S$5) comes with a light and sweet broth, plus firm, odourless and clean-tasting pieces of fish. If you prefer something less light, go for the Fried Fish Bee Hoon (S$5), doused in a delicious milky broth. The clusters of fried egg floss hidden within make this dish all the more exciting to dig into.
Psst, they also have other dishes like Seafood Tom Yum Soup (S$6/S$8) and Fish Maw Fish Head Soup (S$7.50/S$9.50), if you’d like to enjoy something different.

6. 潮州鱼粥大排档 Teochew Fish Porridge Da Pai Dang (#01-41)
Can’t get enough of fish? Teochew Fish Porridge is where you’ll find the most satisfying fish dishes. The Fried Fish Soup (S$6) is a must-try dish— you can decide whether or not you want to add milk in your soup, of which you definitely should.
Of course, you have to get yourself a bowl of Sliced Fish Porridge (S$6)— the rice grains aren’t too soggy, and they nicely absorb the flavours of the savoury broth. Enjoy this bowl topped with pieces of sliced fish.
This is certainly a spot for you to enjoy authentic Teochew fish porridge while at Clementi 448. These comforting, hot dishes would surely make delicious meals on a cold rainy day.

7. Clementi 448 Western Food (#01-42)
Perhaps you’re tired of the Asian varieties and are craving some good ol’ Western— if so, head down to Clementi 448 Western Food to get your fix. This stall sells your usual old fashioned Western food picks, including fried spring chicken and spaghetti.
The fried chicken here is fried to order, ensuring that your meal is piping hot and ultra crispy when you receive it. you can enjoy a whole Spring Chicken for just S$11, along with coleslaw and fries on the side! Other menu items include Chicken Chop Rice (S$6) and Dory Fillet Spaghetti (S$9).
If you’re dining with a group, opt for the Hungry Combo Set (S$20), which comes with a whole spring chicken, a chicken cutlet, 3 fried chicken wings, coleslaw and fries.

8. Wahad Muslim Satay (#01-06)
Wahad Muslim Satay is a great spot to get your fix of classic Malay dishes at an affordable price. For just S$4.50, enjoy a hot bowl of Mee Rebus, Mee Soto, Mee Bakso, Mee Siam, Lontong or Laksa, perfect to stave off those hunger pangs. The Laksa I ordered was fragrant and thick, while the Mee Siam was flavourful and sweet, with a pretty generous amount of gravy.
They even have Satay here, priced at S$10 for 10 sticks, available in mutton, beef or chicken. To make things better, each satay portion includes a generous amount of ketupat, cucumbers and onions for a more balanced meal.
Additionally, why not opt for some Tahu Goreng (S$4.50) if you enjoy fried beancurd?

9. Whampoa Soya Bean (#01-19)
Refresh yourself with a delicious soy bean drink or dessert from Whampoa Soya Bean the next time you visit Clementi 448 Market & Food Centre. This famous hawker chain offers you plenty of soy-based options to quench your thirst, like Grass Jelly Pearl Soya Bean (S$2.80) and Mini Yam Ball Grass Jelly Soya Bean (S$2.80).
I enjoyed the combination of aromatic soy bean milk with the chewy taro balls and soft grass jelly.
For dessert, you can get treats such as Beancurd (S$1.80), Ginko Beancurd (S$2.50) and 3 Treasure (S$3.50), which is beancurd topped with ginkgo nuts, red bean and lotus seeds. Other non-soy alternatives are the Seacoconut Grass Jelly (S$2.80) and White Fungus w/ Peach Gum (S$3).

10. Boon Kee Wanton Noodle (#01-40)
Enjoy a classic plate of wanton mee at Boon Kee Wanton Noodle. This popular stall often sees long queues, though they thankfully move pretty quickly.
Go for the signature Wanton Noodle (S$4/S$5), consisting of thin yellow noodles tossed in a savoury sauce and topped with char siew, fried wantons and veggies.
The Dumpling Noodle (S$4/S$5) is another option, which comes with boiled wantons instead. Alternatively, enjoy the tasty Soya Sauce Chicken Noodle (S$4/S$5) or Ipoh Hor Fun (S$4/S$5).
The affordable price at Boon Kee Wanton Noodle make their dishes extra enticing. Plus, die-hard dumpling lovers can indulge in a bowl of Dumpling Soup (S$5), filled with numerous silky dumplings to savour.

Grab your loved ones to share a delicious plate of rojak from Fong’s Rojak. A plate of classic Rojak costs S$4 or S$5, and includes typical ingredients like tau pok, apples, pineapples and you tiao.
What makes Fong’s Rojak stand out is the option to add on more unique ingredients. Ever tried Cuttlefish with your rojak? Choose from the S$2, S$3 or S$5 options to zhng up your plate. The stall even has Century Egg as a topping for S$1.20.
The Rojak Set is a quick and convenient way to enjoy all the different toppings. Though it comes in a little pricier at S$7.20, where else will you get to try such a unique take on this Singaporean favourite?
