As someone who often books a train for a short trip 2 hours away, I know the challenge of squeezing an itinerary into less than 24 hours. That’s why I’ve put together a list of 11 must-try eats near the JB causeway for you to enjoy a 1-day escape to Johor Bahru!
1. Restoran Kacang Pool Haji
Let’s start strong with what many consider the best kacang pool in JB — Restoran Kacang Pool Haji. Located about a 30-minute drive from the Johor Causeway, it might seem a bit out of the way, but trust me, it’s worth every minute. Unlike your typical kopitiam, Kopiloco stands out with its Nanyang cuisine — a tasty mix of Southern Chinese and local flavours. Their extensive menu offers a wide array of choices, featuring both Hainanese and Malaysian breakfast options that will leave you giddy.
Take a bite of their warm Butter Kaya Toast (RM2.60), perfectly dipped in Half-Boiled Kampung Egg (RM3) for a delicious blend of sweet and savoury flavours.
