Under $10 Pasta Places in Singapore that will make you shout “Mamma Mia!” [Nov 2024 update]

If you’re a pasta lover on a budget, you’ve come to the right place. Typically, a plate of pasta will set you back about S$10 to S$20. With that in mind, I decided to sieve out 10 pasta places in Singapore where you can get a delicious dish for under S$10.

1. Victor’s Western Grill & Pasta

VICTOR'S - STOREFRONT
VICTOR'S - STOREFRONT

This place has the “WOW” factor. Described as “one of the best Western spots in Singapore”, Victor’s Western Grill & Pasta at Clementi 881 Kimly Coffeeshop lives up to its name.

Feast your eyes on this.

Tucked away in a far corner of a kopitiam, the stall boasts a wide variety of Uncle Victor’s hearty plates of Pasta and Chops. These dishes legit got char one ah, I witnessed the fire spilling out of the wok when he was cooking.

VICTOR'S - SPAGHETTI & CHOPS

Starting with the Pasta, you can choose between Tomato, Cream or Aglio Olio Sauce. As for the Chops, choose between Fries or Mashed Potato. All are priced at S$9.90 (paiseh, but still under S$10 right?), Uncle Victor’s recommendations include Spaghetti with Chicken Chop (S$9.90) and Spaghetti with Pork Chop (S$9.90)

Try other reccs like Chicken Chop (S$8.50) and Pork Chop (S$9). Feeling bougie? On with the Spaghetti with Salmon (S$12.90) or Ribeye Beef (S$13).

We tried Spaghetti with Pork Chop in Cream and Chicken Chop in Mashed Potato. While the al dente spag had the perfect ratio of cream and water (not cloying at all), both chops were melt-in-your-mouth tender and the mashed potato was, well, buttery-smooth.

I know it’s good when my fussy mother approves it.

2. Chef Choo Signature

CHEF CHOO - STOREFRONT
CHEF CHOO - STOREFRONT

Helmed by an ex-chef from the renowned Pete’s Place at Grand Hyatt, Chef Choo Signature at Golden Mile Food Centre serves pasta fit for “royalty” at affordable prices.

Say hello to Chef Choo, who dons a smart chef’s uniform despite the humid Singapore weather. Professional sia. Sporting an exposed brick wall with loose hanging plants, the humble hawker stall is not hard to miss with its striking Italian-esque signboard.

Let’s head to the good part.

The stall offers a decent variety of dishes – Think, their signature Sizzling Seafood Spaghetti (S$8.40/ $$14.40) served on a sizzlin’ hot plate to spag classics like Spaghetti Bolognese (S$7.50). You may also choose to opt for other dishes like Norwegian Salmon (S$7.90) with Teriyaki Sauce or Seared Beef (S$7.90) with onion and a side of savoury Garlic Rice.

CHEF CHOO - CARBONARA
CHEF CHOO - CARBONARA

I had to settle for their best-selling Spaghetti Carbonara (S$7.50). Looks are deceiving as this was a super solid plate of carbonara. Garnished with parsley and ground black pepper, this al dente spaghetti was generously portioned with shimeji mushrooms and mouth-watering bacon bits.

For a true feast for a king, upsize your pasta for S$1 and include add-ons like Grilled Chicken (S$4 for 1pc) or Seafood (Prawns/ Mussels/ Clams/ Scallops) (S$6).

3. Uncle Max Pasta & Western (Go Pasta)

Uncle Max Pasta & Western - Storefront

Located at the Bukit Timah Interim Market & Food Centre, Uncle Max Pasta & Western, formerly known as Go Pasta offers Make Your Own Pasta for as low as S$6

Among the 4 different sauces you can choose, Rose (Tomato with Cream) is a must-try. Look out for other sauces like Tomato (In-house Base) and Aglio Olio (Olive oil with Garlic) too. As for the fillings, take it easy with Plain (S$6) or Bacon (S$8). Switching things up? Go ham with Chicken Chop (S$9) or Tiger Prawn (S$9.50). For the star of the show, select either Spaghetti or Penne, available in spicy or non-spicy.

GOPASTA - PENNE
GOPASTA - PENNE

My DIY Pasta was a choice of non-spicy Rose Penne with Bacon Filling and a recommended Mushroom Add-on (S$1). Do the math, but I assure you that it is still within budget.

Featuring a surprising combination of shimeiji mushrooms in 2 colours and streaks of bacon, the made-to-order Penne retained its firmness and texture when I enjoyed it at home. I really really appreciated how the sauce and pasta were separated too!

Go snag a share of Pasta before it’s too late.

4. Eddy’s

EDDY'S STOREFRONT

Duck Confit in a hawker centre? Yet, here we are. Meet Eddy, a sturdy ex-head chef of a soba chain who helms Eddy’s (duh), a popular Western fusion hawker stall at the archaic Hong Lim Market & Food Centre.

Good news for the spice-tolerant, topping the menu is their best-selling Chicken Chop with Laksa Spaghetti (S$9.50) which comes with a meaty pan-fried Chicken Chop marinated in herbs and spices like oregano and cajun seasoning. Meanwhile, the Laksa Spaghetti is topped with hae bee hiam and coated in tangy laksa sauce.

Although this slightly deviates from our S$10 budget, it is one worth mentioning.

EDDY'S MALA LAKSA SPAGHETTI

Another best-seller is the Mala Shrimp Spaghetti (S$10.50), dressed in house-made mala sauce with hints of fennel and cumin. Spice-intolerants unite! Similar to all of Eddy’s spaghetti, the Chicken Alfredo (S$10.50) is a creamy goodness that includes broccoli, cherry tomatoes and mushrooms.

How could I forget the Duck Confit with Mashed Potato (S$12)? Boasting a crispy blowtorched skin, the extremely tender duck leg is accompanied with house-made coleslaw, mashed potato and corn on the cob. For such an atas dish, this price is not bad wor

Be prepared for a long wait time during lunch hours though.

5. II Piccolo Pizzeria

PICCOLO PIZZERIA - STOREFRONT

This shouldn’t be unfamiliar to you. Opened by a chef-turned-hawker, II Piccolo Pizzeria is a fan-favourite at Toa Payoh Central.

Showcasing a huge selection of dishes in traditional Italian names, the stall offers unique options that are uncommonly found at our local coffee shops.

PICCOLO PIZZERIA - BOLOGNESE

To mention just a few, The Gnocchi Di Patate (S$7) are plump and pillowy soft potato dumplings, which makes them so easy to eat. Accompanied with asparagus and mushroom, the creamy tomato sauce was flavourful, and not surfeiting. Italian classics, anyone? Nestled in a rich pool of cream sauce, the iconic Beef Lasagna (S$7.50) is generously layered with beef and tomato.

Their speciality pasta dishes to look out for include their Pepper Chicken Spaghetti (S$9.50) and their Picclo Crayfish Special (S$13.50) which is a little above budget but most definitely worth mentioning.

WAH, this is another hole-in-the-wall Pasta Place. Wild Olives at the hip Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre. Featured in a previous SethLui video from 2020, the hawker stall is helmed by a husband and wife duo who both quit their jobs to establish their first endeavour.

Apparently, it’s so good that customers would travel across Singapore to get a share of their pasta. HUH. But you’ll see why.

7. Western Empire

WESTERN EMPIRE - STOREFRONT
WESTERN EMPIRE - STOREFRONT

With a branch at Marine Parade Central and a newly-opened one at Lorong 8 Toa Payoh, the owner behind Western Empire worked at Astons and Collins for 14 years before starting the coffee shop chain in 2019.

Believe it or not, they have an extensive menu with over 100 items

Spot a blend of your usual Western fare such as Signature Hickory BBQ Pork Chop (S$9) alongside dishes with an Asian twist (Hint: What rhymes with Tried Nice LOL.) Yes, their Fried Rice range includes Fried Rice Har Cheong Gai (S$7.90). Yums

WESTERN EMPIRE - PASTA & CHOPS

But let’s talk about what you’re really here for. Similar to some of the Pasta Places that we’ve covered, each Spaghetti comes with a choice of sauce – Aglio, White Cream and Tomato Marinara

Play it safe with their Shimeji Mushroom Spaghetti (S$6.90) and Bacon Carbonara Spaghetti (S$7.90). Or go big with Western Empire’s Pork Chop Spaghetti (S$7.90) which features a succulent piece of meat drenched with brown sauce and served on a plate of springy spaghetti.

8. Salt

Having recently reopened after a 4-month-long renovation, Old Airport Road Food Centre is one of those places that people tend to frequent regularly due to the variety of delicious food options, with Salt being one of the stalls.

Renowned for its Signature Fried Chicken Wings (S$7.80 for 6pcs Winglets & Drumlets) in different flavours like Soy Garlic and Thai Chili Lime, the hawker stall also serves a lesser-talked range of pasta, such as Sous Vide Grilled Chicken with Aglio Olio (S$6.50/ S$7.90) and Signature Chicken Cutlet with Carbonara (S$7/ S$8.50). Sous Vide?!

SALT - AGLIO OLIO & CARBONARA SPAGHETTI

Salt also has a variety of premium Japanese Akita, or Japanese Rice for you to savour which include the Signature Chicken Cutlet with Soy Garlic Fried Rice (S$7.50/ S$8.90) or the Fried Salmon Steak with Soy Garlic Fried Rice (S$9.90)

Upon bitten, the chicken has a satisfying crunch that flaunts the juicy meat within. And not to mention the al dente pasta, which is perfumed with just the right amount of spice.
